Each year, AmeriCorps offers 75,000 Americans opportunities to give intensive service to their communities. AmeriCorps members serve with more than 40,000 local and national non-profits, helping them expand their reach and impact.

The AmeriCorps Healthy School Corps (HSC) program is an AmeriCorps State program sponsored by the Indiana University School of Public Health-Bloomington and IU Health Bloomington. AmeriCorps members  recruit and manage volunteers on local school corporation wellness teams; complete school-based community needs assessments; and implement Coordinated School Health plans. Coordinated School Health (CSH) programs are proven to create a healthy school environment where students can excel. Our goal is to provide the resources to fully implement CSH programs in eleven, primarily rural, south-central Indiana counties.

HSC pairs local school corporations with AmeriCorps members interested in gaining experience in health promotion while serving their community.

HSC is currently offering Full Time (1700 hours of service) and Half Time positions. If you are interested, please see information below on how to apply.
