The IU Summer Camp Jobs Fair - A Bloomington Tradition
There’s a chill in the air, and the hustle and bustle of the holiday season has barley subsided. However, it’s not too early for students to start thinking about summer employment. The Indiana University Summer Camp Jobs Fair provides opportunities for students to find summer employment in a camp setting. Camps from all across the country will be participating in the fair on February 6th, from 11:30am-3:00pm, at the IU School of Public Health in Bloomington.
Students have a great deal to gain from summer camp employment. They can work with a variety of populations, including young children, adolescents, or children with special needs. Students can also capitalize on their unique talents through opportunities to teach others these skills at specialty camps: such as outdoor adventure camps, sports camps, or fine arts camps.
Camp employers are looking for a wide range of skill sets from general to specific. Available positions include: counselors, sport and fitness specialists, activity specialists, and camp medical staff.
A summer camp work experience offers:
- A challenging high energy work environment
- A team oriented mindset
- The opportunity to work with children of different ages and personalities
- Leadership development
- The opportunity to travel and live in a new environment
Although the work is challenging, it is not without its rewards. One of the biggest perks of summer employment is the opportunity to generate income. Additionally, summer camp employment eliminates one of the biggest concerns while searching for an out of town summer experience, housing. Summer camps typically provide food and lodging to their employees in addition to a seasonal income.
Many people make finding meaningful and fulfilling work a life goal. Working at a camp gives students the opportunity to have a positive impact on a number of children’s lives. Being a positive role model is a difficult task, but the potential rewards are endless. Visit the Summer Camp Job Fair page for more information on the fair and participating camp employers.
The School of Public Health Summer Camp Jobs Fair will take place on Wednesday, February 6th from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in PH (Formerly known as HPER) Room 163.
